The new crime of choice? EWD. A man in Cobb County, Georgia was recently ticketed for "EWD - Eating While Driving." Really!?! Apparently, eating a McDonald's Double Quarter Pounder with cheese and driving at the same time is off limits now. Actually, eating while driving isn't even an actual crime or violation, per se. Rather, driving while distracted is. I get texting while driving is illegal and dangerous. Drunk Driving, DUI, is dangerous. But come on. Perhaps I should change my law practice from being a DUI defense attorney to becoming an EWD criminal lawyer.
As our laws become more and more invasive, pretty soon it will be illegal to look at the sun for longer than a minute. Land of the free you say? At least the charge wasn't in Kansas.
